I HATE fondant... what do I do????
Not to worry!!! :) To be perfectly honest ... I do too! Well, the storebought kind anyway :) I was seriously the biggest anti-fondant person you will ever meet up until the last 6 months or so... It’s absolutely disgusting and really not good for much but looking pretty – and in some ways kind of a “coward’s way out” if you will (please don’t shoot me for saying that ;)). If you want the look of fondant, but hate the taste, the homemade fondant that I use may be the answer. It is really quite good (it tastes like a very slightly chewy, buttercream marshmallow basically) and can be flavored with your choice of flavors and of course colored any color under the sun. If you are skeptical, I can certainly have you sample the fondant before I use it. But if you are totally 100% against using fondant, Buttercream icings can be manipulated to create that same satin smooth look, so please don’t feel like you are limited to just fondant. Whipped icings unfortunately are not so easily smoothed, (air bubbles are the bane of most any cake decorator's existence :)) but please feel free to contact me with any questions!
